Frequently Asked Questions
When Can I Enroll?
Yeshiva enrollment is continuous, and can begin at any time. In general, the student will begin coursework the first day of the month following completion of the application process.
Is Kehillat Yeshua Christian Or Jewish?
This question is a difficult one to frame, because it is possible to be a Jewish Christian. Kehillat Yeshua is Christian in the sense that it affirms the complete deity and humanity of Jesus Christ (Yeshua Messiah), and upholds much of Orthodox Christian doctrine as it pertains to Scripture and salvation. However, our goal is to get back to Messainic Judaism, an albeit anachronistic way of referring to the Judaism (faith) of Yeshua and the Apostles during the First Century. Kehillat Yeshua utilizes a distinctly Jewish approach to higher education as a Yeshiva, and promotes Messianic Judaism as a faithful expression of the faith of Yeshua Messiah and the Apostles.
Can Women Attend And Earn A Degree?
A resounding yes! Absolutely! Not only can women attend, but we encourage them to! We encourage everyone, regardless of gender or race or nationality to apply and join us! Oftentimes it is the very things that make us different, from our different perspectives and backgrounds, that helps us learn and grow the most.
When Will I Graduate?
Once all required credits have been completed with satisfactory grades and all balances paid. At Kehillat Yeshua, students graduate as soon as their coursework - including thesis - is complete and accepted, and any outstanding tuition and/or fees have been paid.
Does Kehillat Yeshua Host Graduation Ceremonies?
At this time, no; however it is something we would like to do in the future.
Is KYMY Accredited?
In short, no, not at this time. However, this is best answered on our Statement of Accreditation page.
What Denomination is Kehillat Yeshua?
Kehillat Yeshua Messianic Yeshiva is a distinctly Messianic institution, but we are not held by any particular denomination. We have a vision that fits squarely in the realm of Messianic Judaism, however we remain ecumenical and welcome students of various backgrounds who agree and adhere to our Messianic Creed.
What Faculty Members Will I Work With?
Students will be paired with a Mentor at the beginning of their program. The Yeshiva strives to foster good relationships, and will try to pair students with their preferred mentors whenever possible. This is further explained on the Yeshiva Discipleship Model page. Should a student or their mentor choose to terminate the student-mentor relationship, the student will be paired with a new mentor. In general, however, we aim for a student's mentor to be someone they will interact with often and learn from and grow with. However, there are also cases where other faculty members will be involved with the student's education, such as term paper reviews and the final defense of the student's thesis before the board.
Does KYMY Require Students To Spend Time On Campus?
No, as a fully-distance-based school, students complete their work 100% remotely. However, students are encouraged to meet in person to study under and with their mentor and/or other students whenever and wherever possible.
How Do I Know What To Study For My Classes?
In general, every syllabus will include the required materials for the course that will align with the minimum standards set forth in the Course Requirements. This will include at least the minimum assigned reading. However, students will often need additional sources for term papers. Here the student should be guided by their mentor and directed to additional materials of study. If a student is creating a syllabus for a customized course, he/she - along with their mentor - must define the required materials for the course that align with the Course Requirements.
How Many Credits Can I Transfer?
Students can transfer up to 50% of the credits necessary for the Th.B, or 30% of the credits necessary for the M.T.S., M.Div, D.Min, or Th.D.
Can I Get Credit For Ministry Experience?
Yes, for the Th.B program, students can get up to 8 credits for ministry work experience per year of full-time ministry, provided their role is directly relevant to the courses they are seeking to satisfy. This is also subject to the same 50% cap that applies to transfer credits. For example, a Messianic Rabbi with 15 years of full-time ministry experience may qualify for up to 120 credit (15 * 8), but the maximum that can be applied to the Th.B is 50% or 64 credits. Additionally, bi-vocational and other "part time" ministers are eligible for half this amount, or up to 4 credits per year of experience. No ministry credits are accepted towards graduate degrees.
Is There A Cost For Ministry Experience Credit?
Yes, students can receive a 30% cost reduction if paying in full at time of enrollment, for each ministry credit earned. For example, if a student transfers in 32 credits for ministry experience, instead of paying $85 / credit for those 32 credits, he/she will pay $59.50 / credit.
How Long Do I Have To Complete My Program?
Students have one month for each credit, which is typically four months per course. On average, a single course - with the exception of thesis and dissertation work - should not take more than eight (8) weeks. The Th.B program is 128 credits, meaning the students has 128 months (or 10.66 years) to complete the program. Students are encouraged - but not required - to work quicker than this.
Does KYMY Provide Textbooks?

However, in some cases, students using Logos Bible Software can purchase the digital text for cheaper than the print text, and they are encouraged to do so.
