Degree Programs
In order to best serve the Messianic community at large, Kehillat Yeshua has adopted the following degree programs to cover both undergraduate and graduate level education. The available degree concentrations are given here.
Bachelor's Degree
The Bachelor of Theology (Th.B) is the only undergraduate program offered at the Yeshiva. It can be customized with numerous electives allowing the student to direct and control the direction of their studies. The Th.B program information can be found on the Th.B page.
Master's Degrees
We have elected to offer two Master's-level degrees. The shorter and faster program is the Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S.). The M.T.S. covers the core theological tenets of the Messianic faith, and also requires at least an introductory course in each Biblical Hebrew and Biblical Greek. The longer and more robust program is the Master of Divinity (M.Div), often considered the gold standard of religious education. The M.Div is ideal for the student who wants a well-rounded education and does not want to skip any major area (Biblical Languages, Hermeneutics, Church History, etc.). The M.Div is also ideal for those entering or further their pastoral or Rabbinic training to better serve their local communities. For those more inclined towards academics but not pastoral or Rabbinic ministry, the M.T.S. allows students to dive deeper into Biblical and Theological study.
Doctoral Degrees
At present, Kehillat Yeshua is not offering doctoral degrees, due to limitations regarding available doctoral faculty (mentors). However, the plan is to launch two doctoral programs no later than Fall of 2025. The first of these programs is the Doctor of Ministry (D.Min), which is focused more on the practical side of ministry. This program is well-suited for those who wish to go beyond a Master's level and dive deeper into what it takes to be a congregational leader, and even a leader and mentor and teacher of other (generally younger) ministers. The second doctoral program is the Doctor of Theology (Th.D). In times past, the Th.D was the more prominent terminal degree for academic work in the realm of theology, alongside the D.D. (Doctor of Divinity). As has gone on and largely due to the success and popularity of the Ph.D in secular universities, the Th.D has been largely replaced by the Ph.D. At the Yeshiva though, we felt it more fitting to uphold this long-standing tradition. The Th.D differs from the D.Min in that while the D.Min is focused more on direct ministry, the Th.D is focused more on academic and scholarly contributions.
